Our Approach

The Way We Create Content

We don't publish filler. Every piece goes through a clear editorial process built around accuracy, craft, and real-world applicability.

Strict Editorial Standards

Every post starts with a technical brief written by one of our contributors. It's then drafted, fact-checked against current masonry standards, and reviewed by a second expert before going live. We'd rather publish one solid article a week than five half-baked ones.

Researched · Reviewed · Accurate · Honest

A Blog That Talks Back

StoneWellCraft isn't a one-way broadcast. Our comment sections are actively moderated by contributors who answer technical questions. We run monthly reader Q&A threads and feature reader-submitted project photos in a dedicated gallery series.

Engaged · Responsive · Real · Local

Rooted in Madrid's Stone Culture

Madrid's building history is written in stone — from the granite foundations of the old city centre to the limestone facades of Malasaña. Our content is shaped by the materials, climate, and heritage of this specific place, not copy-pasted from American or Northern European sources.

What Our Community Is Saying

Real feedback from stone enthusiasts, contractors, and restorers across Madrid and beyond.

“I've been a stonemason in Madrid for 22 years and I still bookmark StoneWellCraft articles. The repointing guide saved me from a costly mistake on a listed building in Lavapiés. The level of detail is genuinely rare online.”

CMCarlos MendozaStonemason, Madrid

“As a complete beginner who just bought a finca outside Madrid, I was completely lost about what stone to use for the garden walls. The selection guides on StoneWellCraft were the clearest thing I found anywhere — and the contributors actually answered my questions in the comments.”

About

Built by Artisans, Written for Craftspeople

StoneWellCraft started in 2019 when a group of Madrid-based stonemasons got tired of searching for reliable, detailed content online and finding nothing but generic home improvement fluff. We built the blog we wanted to read — technically honest, visually rich, and grounded in real site experience. Today we have 12 contributors including masons, architects, heritage restorers, and landscape designers, all based in or around Madrid.

  • Every article is reviewed by a practicing craftsperson before publication
  • No sponsored fluff — we only recommend tools and materials we've tested
  • Strong community of 18,000+ monthly readers across Spain and Latin America
FAQ

Questions We Get All the Time

Straight answers about how we work, what we publish, and how you can get involved.

Yes — the vast majority of our articles, tutorials, and project walkthroughs are completely free. We offer a paid membership tier for readers who want early access to new posts, premium video tutorials, and direct Q&A sessions with contributors.

Absolutely. We have an open submission form for reader projects. We look for clear photos, a basic description of materials and methods, and a location. The best submissions are featured in our monthly community spotlight.

We publish two to three new articles per week. We prioritise depth over volume — so each post takes significant time to research, write, and review before it goes live.

Both, actually — but every technical article is written or reviewed by someone with hands-on professional experience. We clearly label who wrote and reviewed each piece so you know exactly whose knowledge you're drawing on.

We do include references to Spanish building norms where relevant, particularly in our restoration and heritage content. However, we always recommend consulting a licensed architect or local authority for any regulated construction work.
